Late Sunday evening the 6-foot-9, 255-pound center gave John Thompson III and Georgetown a verbal pledge. Adams confirmed the news early Monday morning.
"I just feel like Georgetown is the best fit for me," Adams told Scout.com. "They are a big man school. They develop their bigs and a lot of their bigs make it to the NBA. Georgetown also runs their offense through their bigs and I liked that."
During summer ball Adams ran with the Jackson Tigers, playing alongside Johnny O'Bryant, Mychal Ammons and others. Known for his aggressiveness inside, Adams will add some size and rebounding to the Hoyas frontline.
While on their campus for a visit two weeks ago, Adams spent time with their coaching staff and players. He also took in a practice and he appreciated the intensity of it.
"I watched them practice and I liked how [Coach Thompson] worked his guys hard," Adams said.
Adams also considered Mississippi State, but he thought his best opportunity of getting better would come at Georgetown.
"If staying home was the best fit for me I would have did that," Adams said. "But I felt like I have better opportunities going to Georgetown to make it to the next level and to get where I want."
