Green Gives Wake Forest Verbal Pledge

Daniel Green made his college choice on Monday. He'll head to the ACC.

Daniel Green wanted to head back to North Carolina. On Monday he got that opportunity.

A standout at Grapevine (Tex.) High, Green gave Wake Forest a verbal commitment on Monday, while still in Winston-Salem for his official visit.

Daniel's father, Perry, confirmed the news to Scout.com.

"Academics was the big piece," the elder Green said. "I went to [North] Carolina and my wife went to Carolina. So he grew up around the ACC. His top choices were always ACC schools."

"Wake Forest and Virginia were the two schools that he always liked," he added. "For him it came down to Wake Forest because of the academics and because of coach B's style of coaching."

The 6-foot-9, 210-pound Green has majority of his family living in North Carolina, so he'll be in a home away from home.

"Coach [Jeff] Battle and I have had a relationship and have talked for over a year now," Green said. "Proxmity to his relatives [played into it]. My mother, in-laws and my brother are in North Carolina."

Green joins Chase Fischer to make up Wake Forest's two-man recruiting class.
