Chiotti is a Rarity

After the spring tournaments up and down the west coast, it's clear that there aren't many skilled and athletic big men in the rising senior class. That's why Northern California's David Chiotti is shaping up as a target for many colleges...

David Chiotti, 6-9 PF/C, Mountain View (Calif.) St. Francis, is a rare breed on the west coast in the rising senior class.

He's probably among only a few recruits over 6-8 that are legitimate D-1 prospects. Chiotti, who has shown some athleticism and skills this spring, is seeing it translate into some good recruiting attention.

Chiotti said that ASU, Cal, New Mexico, Santa Clara, and San Diego State are the schools recruiting him that he's most interested in. He indicated that other Pac-10 schools were also recruiting him.

Chiotti's teammate, on both his AAU and high school teams, is Hakeem Gilliard, the 5-8 scrappy, quick point guard. Gilliard is getting recruiting attention from Portland, St. Mary's, Oregon and UCSB.
