Nolan Gains Weight, Has New Schools

2012 big man Phillip Nolan has seen his recruitment pick up. The three-star recruit now holds a handful of high major scholarship offers.

Phillip Nolan is improving.

At least that's the word out of Huntington (W.V.) Prep. The 6-foot-10, 210-pound post prospect has added weight and strength to his skinny frame.

"Phil has picked up quite a bit," Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford said. "He's up and down. When he's making shots he looks like a pro. When he's not he's kind of just out there. He's a confidence player right now."

According to Fulford, Nolan, a native of Milwaukee (Wisc.) has put on 20 pounds and it's helped him become more confident in his low post game.

"He's getting a little stronger and he's more comfortable when he's in the paint banging around," he said. "His base is still pretty weak, but he's putting weight on where he can get in there and finish."

A number of schools have been in to see the 2012 big man. Clemson, West Virginia, Marquette, Texas and Baylor are among the most interested.

"Marquette, Texas, Baylor those are probably his three right now that are in there," Fulford said.

As far as visits go, Nolan has taken a couple of unofficial trips.

"He went to Marquette for their elite camp," Fulford told Scout.com. "He's from that way so he's been there a few times and then we all went up to Marshall's midnight madness."

With offers from Marquette, Texas and Baylor, Nolan is starting to take a stronger look at the recruiting process.

"He may be the guy that does it at the end of this year," he said. "I don't think he'll do it anytime very soon, but I think he'll get it over with at the end of the high school season."
