Birch Headed To 2011

Khem Birch, a Pittsburgh commit, is headed to the class of 2011.

It may only be November, but it looks like Pittsburgh is receiving an early Christmas present.

Khem Birch, who is rated by Scout.com as a top five prospect in the 2012 class, will now move to the 2011 class.

"Earlier when I verbaled coach told me that I could come in 2011," Birch said. "I think it's going to be better because me staying in high school another year won't make me better."

Birch and his family signed the Letter of Intent during the seven day period and are planning to give Pittsburgh the paperwork, making him a 2011 early signee. Per NCAA rules there is a two-week window that the family can use to pass on the LOI.

A 6-foot-9 power forward, Birch is an elite athlete and shot blocker. Birch has a chance to make an impact in college right away, as he has a solid frame and moves up and down the floor well.

Birch is Jamie Dixon's fifth 2011 prospect, joining Jaylen Bond, John Johnson, Durand Johnson and Malcolm Gilbert.
