Killings Decides On College Home

Miami Northwestern center Greg Killings recently made a college decision. Killings picked a spot where he can be successful.

Owls Land Florida Center

Greg Killings ended his recruitment earlier this week. The 6-10 Miami Northwestern senior committed to Rice University after considering his options.

"Basically, I liked the coaches," Killings said. "They want to develop me and put me in the right position. Academics … they're one of the best in the nation. I think I can come in and make an impact right away."

Killings said that he had been contacted by schools like Florida State, Marquette and Cincinnati but they weren't recruiting him that hard. He visited Stanford last month.

With all that said, Rice made a strong impression. "They have a pretty solid team with a lot of returning players. They should be pretty good next year.

Killings has the body to really help the Owls. He wasn't the primary scoring option on his high school team but says he'll be ready for a larger role in college. "Basically, I'm a physical presence inside. Once I get the ball in the post, I can score. I love the jump hook. On defense, I rebound and block shots. I'm a presence in the middle."
