Amayo Draws Interest

With a solid senior season, Kelvin Amayo has picked up continued interest from a number of college programs. He spoke to about his recent interest.

As his senior season has developed Kelvin Amayo, a standout at Newark (N.J.) NIA Prep, has steadily received more attention from college coaches.

Amayo is currently averaging 22 points a game for NIA Prep, who sits at 18-3 midway through the season. A solid athlete that plays with a motor, Amayo is an especially talented rebounder and is active attacking the basket.

His efforts this season haven't gone unnoticed, as the 6-foot-5, 205-pound wing prospect has picked up scholarship offers from Rutgers, Seton Hall, Iowa State and Rice.

Amayo, a three-star prospect, has also scored interest from the likes of UNLV, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Mississippi and Virginia Tech.

"I'm just trying to wait for the best situation," Amayo told "That's why I haven't choose a school yet."

Although he hasn't taken any visits recently, Amayo said he's hoping to set up dates to see Rice, Pittsburgh and Rutgers in the near future.

"I'm looking at how they play and is the school the best fit for me," he said when asked what he was looking for in a school.

Amayo is hoping to make his college choice sometime in April.
