Guerrero Takes Official, Talks Recruiting

Cezar Guerrero had a big weekend. It began with a monster outing against Mater Dei and ended with an official visit to a Big 12 program.

Cezar Guerrero, the highest rated remaining lead guard, has had quite a week.

The week started with a 46-point outing against a loaded Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei squad. While Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco took the loss, Guerrero managed a breakout performance.

"Right now I've just been playing like myself," Guerrero said. "I've just being doing what I have to do for our team to be successful."

Just a few days after the big outing, Guerrero traveled to Oklahoma for his second official visit.

"It went really good," Guerrero told about his visit to Norman (Okla.). "I saw them play against Texas A&M. Unfortunately they lost but it was a really good visit."

Guerrero, a three-star prospect, said he was able to get to know Jeff Capel and his staff better during the trip.

"Coach Capel is a really good coach," he said. "He has a lot of connections and their assistant coaches are really nice and they are fun to be around. I'm getting to know them personally and they are great guys and they are fun to be around."

To go with interest from Oklahoma, Guerrero also claims scholarship offers from Oregon State, Seton Hall and UC-Irvine. He also cited varying degrees of interest from Marquette and Baylor.

The 5-foot-11 point guard was once committed to Western Kentucky, but he backed out of his verbal during the early singing period. He said he's no longer considering the Hilltoppers.

"I haven't heard from them since I decommitted," Guerrero said.

Guerrero said he has three official visits remaining, but has not decided if and when he will take other official visits. As far as making his decision, he said he's just waiting until he gets the "feeling."

"Whenever I get the feeling that I feel like it's the right school and I feel comfortable [I'll commit]."
