Washington PF Andrew Strait
Andrew Strait, 6-7 JR PF Yakima (Wash.) West Valley, told us recently that he's hearing from Stanford, Oklahoma, Washington, Washington St., UConn, Texas Tech, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside and Yale, among others. Strait said he'd have no problem leaving home if he felt the best fit for him was away from the west. We asked if he liked any school in particular when he was growing up and Strait said, "No, not really. I'm more familiar with the Pac-10 schools, but I didn't really have a favorite." Strait rattled off a number of factors that he'll consider when making his choice. "How the basketbal program is overall, the coaches, players, where I fit in, how much playing time there is, what guys they have at my position and the campus," said Strait. Strait told us that he received phone calls in March from UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside. He said Texas Tech, Washington and Yale have all talked about having a home visit. When questioned about the timing of his decision, Strait said, "It'll depend on who is offering. I'm not really waiting for any one school and I could see myself waiting." Strait told us that he has a 3.6 GPA and he'll take the SAT in June.
