Top Five For Shrigley

Matt Shrigley, one of the more talented forwards in the west for 2012, tells us that five schools are in the mix for him at the moment...

Matt Shrigley, 6-6 JR SF Carlsbad (Calif.) La Costa Canyon, is a skilled forward with a nice stroke and very good feel for the game.

I spoke with Shrigley recently and he said that there are five schools currently showing him the most interest.

"San Diego State, Oregon, Arizona State, Boston College and Washington State are the main ones," said Shrigley.

When asked which schools have extended scholarship offers to date, Shrigley replied, "San Diego State, ASU, Boston College and Washington State have offered."

I asked Shrigley what he is looking for in a school.

"The coaching staff and the players, how I get along with them," said Shrigley. "And I'd like to be someplace where they have a running offense and probably also on the West Coast."

I asked if early playing time is a big deal to him.

"Of course I'd like to play early if I could and have an impact," said Shrigley. "But I don't expect a lot in my first year."

Shrigley said he doesn't really have a time frame for picking a school.

"I don't want to do it too soon," said Shrigley. "I want to take my time and take my official visits."

Shrigley has been to San Diego State on an unofficial visit. I asked if he has any plans to take more unofficial visits.

"I could possibly after the season," said Shrigley. "My Dad went to Boston College and we have some family back there, so I could see going out there for a visit. And the other schools aren't too far away, so I might take some unofficials at some point."

Shrigley said he currently has a 3.0 GPA.
