Ochefu Having Big Junior Season

Scholarship offers are rolling in for Daniel Ochefu. A talented 6-foot-10 post presence, Ochefu is averaging a double-double 21 games into the season.

With such a great crop of post prospects available in the 2012 class a couple of very talented big men have been lost in the shuffle.

Daniel Ochefu, of Westtown (Pa.) High, is certainly one of the juniors that is ranked quite high, but hasn't received as much ink and attention as they should.

After playing well at the Nike Hoop Jamboree last June, Ochefu, a 6-foot-10, 235-pound center, spent the rest of the summer playing for a small local travel team. Perhaps that played into the lack of notoriety.

Regardless, Ochefu is in the midst of a terrific junior season, where he is averaging 16 points and 12 rebounds per contest.

"I think I've been up and down a little bit," Ochefu told Scout.com. "I've had some really good games and then some games I haven't been as assertive as I should have been."

"I have a high basketball IQ and I'm a good passer," he added about his game. "I think I need to work the most on my back to the basket game."

College coaches from across the country have certainly taken notice of the talented five-star prospect.

Kansas, North Carolina and Florida have shown varying degrees of interest, while Villanova, Georgetown, Temple, Texas, West Virginia, Virginia, Penn State, James Madison and Rutgers have all offered.

"I haven't been that worried about it during the season," Ochefu said. "I've just been focused on helping my team win a championship. After the season I'll start to look at it more."

"It's still wide open right now," Scout.com's No. 15 prospect in the 2012 added.

Prior to the season, Ochefu took unofficial visits to Temple, Virginia and Georgetown. He doesn't have any other trips on the docket.

Ochefu is currently ranked as the No. 6 center in the 2012 class.
