Interest Up For Reese, One Sticks Out

J-Mychal Reese, one of the many high major prospects out of Houston in the 2012 class, updated his recruitment with He one of the Big 12 powers as an early favorite.

With four of the top 10 point guards in the 2012 class already off the board, the remaining guys on that list become that much more important for high major programs.

J-Mychal Reese, who ranks No. 4 at the position, said he's felt the heat since a handful of his classmates opted to make their college choices.

"I've seen more schools and different schools," Reese said.

Among the schools involved with Reese are Texas A&M, Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma, Villanova, Kansas, Alabama, LSU, Memphis and Oregon.

"It's something I'm starting to think about," he said. "I'm still open, but I feel like I need to take some visits to some of the schools I like a lot. I really want to visit Villanova and I really want to visit Kansas. I like Memphis too."

"I've visited all of the Texas schools and that's pretty much it," Reese added. "I haven't visited many schools outside of Texas."

Reese, who admitted that distance wouldn't play a factor in his decision-making, said one school in particular is starting to stand out.

"Right now I really like Kansas," Reese told "I like Kansas a lot. I just like the way they play. Their guards have the ball a lot and it's a fast paced game. That's why I like it."

In the midst of his junior season, Reese, a standout at Bryan (Tex.) High, is averaging 30 points and seven assists per outing.

"Things have been going good," he said about his season. "We start district play on Tuesday. In district we are tied for second place."

"I get my teammates involved," Reese said. "I'm a quick point guard that can shoot, that can score, play defense and just bring energy too."

Reese, a four-star prospect, is ranked No. 27 overall in the 2012 class.
