2013 Intro: Jahmel Taylor

Already 2013 prospect Jahmel Taylor has high major programs dabbling in his recruitment. He currently has his high school squad vying for a CIF championship.

Throughout the season buzz has been building around 5-foot-11, 160-pound lead guard Jahmel Taylor.

Just a sophomore, Taylor, of Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon, said his season has been a success thus far.

"I'm playing well," Taylor told Scout.com. "I'm being a leader on the court. I'm just trying to lead by example and get everyone involved, but also take over the game when needed."

When asked to describe his game, Taylor said he's the type of lead guard that looks to get his teammates involved, but is also a capable scorer.

"I bring pretty much anything you need," he said. "If you need me to score I'll do that. If you need assists I'll get assists or rebound."

Already Taylor has picked up scholarship offers from Washington State, USC and San Francisco.

"It's going pretty well," he said of his recruitment. "But I'm just trying to get better."

Taylor has also received varying degrees of interest from Washington, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Michigan State, SMU, St. Mary's and Georgia Tech. The 2013 prospect said he's taken an unofficial visit to USC.

"I enjoyed it," he said. "It's a beautiful campus."

Taylor and Sierra Canyon take on Montclair Prep in the 2011 California Southern Section Boys Basketball Division 5A championship.
