High major schools track Poythress

One of the best big men in the south -- Alex Poythress -- took an unofficial visit to Tennessee this past weekend. He's also visited a pair of local schools recently.

In a class loaded with talented big men prospects, Alex Poythress rates among the best.

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward ranks No. 35 overall in the 2012 class and has high major attention both regionally and nationally.

Among the schools showing interest in the four-star prospect are Tennessee, Memphis, Georgia, Miami, Florida, Stanford, Alabama, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and a handful of others.

"It's still early," Poythress told Scout.com about his recruitment.

Over the weekend Poythress took a trip to Knoxville (Tenn.) to visit Bruce Pearl and Tennessee.

"It was pretty good," the Clarksville (Tenn.) High standout said about his unofficial visit. "I watched the game and went in the locker room."

Poythress also pointed out that he's taken recent visits to Vanderbilt and Memphis.
