Connecticut, Boston College, Ohio State, Florida and Temple all know about Charlestown (MA) High's Rashid Al-Kaleem. How do they know? Well, reportedly he's made unofficial visits to each of their campuses.
Word is, Al-Kaleem has been a big-time winner in high school and can stroke the jumper. Thus, the interest from the major college programs.
Here's a young man who few people have seen and no one might catch a glimpse of him on the summer circuit. However, you can bet some college programs are going to head up to Massachusetts to watch him play during the evaluation period.
Al-Kaleem is a 6-3, 180 pound shooting guard who averaged 18 points a game for Charlestown last year. As a sophomore, he averaged 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 six assists as he shot better than 50% from deep. He helped lead Charlestown to a 26-1 record last year.
A few weeks ago, the Boston Herald reported that sources said he was having a press conference to announce his intentions. That press conference never took place. But, we understand Boston College, UConn, Ohio State, Florida and Temple are all in the running.
We'll keep you posted if we hear anything else.
