Winthrop Class Looks Strong

Gregg Marshall's Winthrop squad will grow by at least four players next season. Phillip Williams, a standout player from the state of North Carolina, is the most recent signee.

Four Strong Signees For Winthrop

Terrell Martin was Mr. Basketball in his home state this year. Phillip Williams hasn't lost a high school basketball game in his last 61 tries. Winthrop has some winners coming into its program.

Williams joins Martin, Justin Harper and South Carolina's Mr. Basketball of two seasons ago, Alex Spotts, in what is a strong recruiting effort on the part of the Winthrop staff.

Williams averaged 17 and 12 for West Rowan which captured its second consecutive state title this season. Western Carolina, Asheville and High Point were amongst his final suitors.

Spotts is a transfer from Rice who is eligible to play next season.
