Berry Makes Impression

Nolan Berry is expecting some offers to come his way soon as he makes a trio of unofficial visits.

Super skilled kids who have good size and aren't afraid to rebound are very rare on the high school level. One prospect who fits that description is Nolan Berry. The St. Louis native had an excellent sophomore season, and showed at the NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish that he is one of the best prospects in the country.

When walking out on the floor Berry isn't the most intimating player for opponents. He isn't super tall for an interior player, 6-foot-8, and isn't super strong either, but once the game starts he is a problem.

Berry has a great skill level. He dribbles and passes like a guard, shoots it well out to the three point line, and also shows a desire to rebound the basketball. His perimeter skills and interior toughness make for a unique combination.

"As a player I have a lot of versatility," said Berry. "I like to step out and shoot it, but I can also go inside and post up."

That versatility led to a strong high school year at DeSmet Jesuit in St. Louis.

"My high school season was real good," said Berry. "We did real well in the regular season, but we lost before the Final Four in the tournament, but it was still a good season."

During the season Berry was evaluated by numerous high-major schools, and now a trio visits, and potentially offers are coming his way.

"Purdue called me and said they are going to offer, but they want to do it at their place," said Berry. "I am going up to Purdue next week, and will also visit Butler and Notre Dame while I am in Indiana."

On top of those three Indiana schools, Berry says that he is hearing from several others.

"Also schools like Missouri, Illinois, Missouri State, and St. Louis are recruiting me pretty hard," said Berry.

At the moment Berry is not rated in the Scout.com top 35 for 2013, but he will definitely be in the discussion the next time the rankings are updated due to his strong performance.
