Mutiple Offers For Wallace

Tyrone Wallace, a versatile prospect with the chance to play multiple positions at the next level, has picked up a few new scholarship offers recently...

Tyrone Wallace, 6-4 JR PG/SG Bakersfield (Calif.) High, is one of the elite guard prospects in the west for 2012. While Wallace has the feel and passing ability to play the one, it's possible he may end up better suited to defending the two at the next level. He's a decent perimeter shooter, finishes well in traffic and he's a good rebounder for a guard. He's not exceptional in any one area, but his versatility and upside make him a very intriguing prospect.

I spoke with Wallace recently and asked about the schools that have been recruiting him to date.

"UCLA, Colorado, Cal, UNLV, Fresno State, Arizona State, Gonzaga, Penn, San Diego State and Nevada are some of them," said Wallace.

Wallace said that UCLA and Cal are the only two schools that have not offered a scholarship at this time.

"They haven't offered yet, but they both sent coaches to see me work out in the past couple weeks," said Wallace. "Colorado has also sent coaches and I believe Fresno State will be here tomorrow."

Wallace has taken unofficial visits to UCLA and Fresno State. I asked him if he plans on taking any more unofficial visits.

"I think I will go to Arizona State and Colorado, maybe some of the closer ones," said Wallace. "Since they are unofficial I have to pay for them myself."

I asked Wallace what he is looking for in a school.

"The education is important," said Wallace. "Then someplace that I can come in and play. I'd also like to go somewhere that I can win – I'd like to have a chance to go to a Final Four. I'd kind of like to stay in the west if possible, but I will go elsewhere if there is a better opportunity."

Wallace said he doesn't have a leader at this time and he hopes to make a decision sometime prior to his senior season. He said he currently has a 3.5 GPA.
