Isaac Hamilton has early leader

Scout.com's 16th ranked 2013 prospect, Isaac Hamilton is going to have no shortage of schools recruiting him. He has an early favorite.

One of the West Coast's top underclassmen is 6-foot-4, 175-pound Crenshaw (Calif.) shooting guard Isaac Hamilton, Scout.com's 16th ranked 2013 prospect.

Hamilton holds offers from Arizona, Baylor, Oklahoma State, TCU, USC, Fresno State and Houston and is hearing from Washington, St. John's, and several others.

The four-star prospect is coming off of a successful sophomore season and is working hard to get better.

"This year really helped me," Hamilton said. "I had a good season, but we lost in the second round. We did pretty good. I'm working on getting to the next level, getting stronger and I'm working on going to my left."

The brother of former Texas standout Jordan Hamilton, Isaac has gotten some advice from his sibling about going through the recruiting process.

"He's really helpful," Isaac said of Jordan. "He tells me to pick the right school and don't lean to a favorite too much to prevent making a mistake."

Hamilton says that a West Coast school currently stands out for him.

"Arizona," Hamilton said. "I like the coaching, how (Sean Miller) did with his players this year. I didn't expect them to go that far in the tournament. He's a really good coach. They say they're recruiting three players for my class and they said I'm in the top three."

Despite an early leader, Hamilton is in no rush to make a decision.

"I'll probably decide at the end of next summer," he said.

When that time comes to make a commitment, Hamilton has a few aspects of a program that he'll look for.

"I want a good coach; a coach that will deal with the players well and sends them to the NBA," Hamilton said. "I'd like to stay close to home so my family can see me play."
