Demetris Morant favors two

Two schools stand out for 2012 Las Vegas Bishop Gorman power forward Demetris Morant, who gave us an updated offer list and a timetable on his decision.

It's been a wild three years for Demetris Morant.

After playing his freshman year at Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby, Morant moved to Tucson (Ariz.) and enrolled at Marana Mountain View, where he played his sophomore season.

Morant then left for Las Vegas and played as a junior on a talented Bishop Gorman squad.

The move to Bishop Gorman has no doubt helped.

"It's helped me a lot," Morant said. "The coaches are really helping me with my game."

The 6-foot-8, 198-pound 2012 power forward is raw, but he's getting better and his terrific athleticism and lanky frame give him plenty of upside.

He's worked hard and the best is yet to come.

"I've been working on my game all around," he said. "My shot, my post moves – I'm just trying to get better."

Schools began seriously recruiting Morant last summer and he's up to five total offers.

"My first offer was Memphis and other schools to offer me were USC, San Diego State, UNLV and Arizona State," Morant said.

Two schools hold a lead at this stage in Morant's recruitment.

"I like San Diego State and Memphis, both of them," Morant said. "I like how they get up and down the court and how they play. I've been hearing from their head coaches."

As it stands now, Morant isn't planning on hurrying to a decision.

"I'd like to wait until signing day," he said. "I'm in no rush."
