Sleeper Gabe Freeman

Gabe Freeman from Tempe (Ariz.) McClintock is long, athletic and has a great feel for the game, and has added a pretty decent outside stroke to his game. He's gone almost under the recruiting radar up until now...

Gabe Freeman, 6-4 JR SG, Tempe (Ariz.) McClintock, is a player we noticed last summer as a kid with potential.  Last weekend at the Las Vegas Easter Classic, Freeman showed that he's started to realize some of that potential.

Freeman, who said he led the state region in scoring with 21 a game to go along with 14 rebounds,  has a great body, one that has put on some muscle since last summer, but still has the capability of adding quite a bit more muscle.  He's very long, with long arms, and has one of those floppy-type bodies that is limber and moves well laterally.  He has some very good athleticism, able to go inside and fight for rebounds and finish above the rim.

What's also improved since last summer are Freeman's skill set. In Vegas he showed an much improved outside stroke as well as better ball-handling skills. Freeman's always had a very good feel and instinct for the game and now is developing the skills to use them.  Freeman projects as a solid mid-major prospect, with some intriguing potential.

So far, Freeman has gotten recruiting interest from a limited amount of schools. Northern Arizona has offered him, and Loyola Marymount has been clued in and recruiting him, going out to his high school to watch him during the spring contact period.  Freeman said he's also hearing from Texas Tech, Santa Barbara, Wyoming and Denver.

"I like Loyola Marymount at this point," Freeman said. "They've been recruiting me pretty well and have said they like me."

Freeman said he has a 2.8 GPA and took the SAT for the first time earlier this month.
