Spencer has leader

2012 Los Angeles Price power forward Skylar Spencer has offers from USC, UNLV, Colorado and Gonzaga. Out of those schools, which one is his favorite?

There's over a dozen 2012 power forwards out west with high major offers and one of the more intriguing prospects of that group is 6-foot-8, 205-pound Skylar Spencer out of Los Angeles Price.

Spencer has picked up offers from USC, UNLV, Colorado and Gonzaga, with attention coming from UCLA, Florida State, Marquette and Iowa.

Out of all those schools, one stands out.

"I'm really liking Gonzaga right now," Spencer said. "I plan on taking a visit up there to check it out. I like their playing style and coaches. I want to go up there and see it."

Spencer is hoping that visit will happen in the next few months and he wouldn't rule out making a decision if everything goes well.

"Possibly," Spencer said of pulling the trigger to Gonzaga on his visit. "But I might want to wait. It all depends on who else offers me."

Regardless of who else gets involved, Spencer has a pretty good idea what he wants in a school.

"I want a school where it runs through the big men, where they respect the big men and let them score," he said. "Also, kind of an up and down play."

Something that could end up being a factor is location, although Spencer won't rule out leaving the west.

"I'm considering staying on the West Coast, but as long as the school is right, the education is good and I like the coaching staff, I'll like it," he said.

Spencer said that he'll make a decision around August or September. Until then, he's working on his game and is happy with his development.

"I've improved more on my offense and becoming a leader," Spencer said. "I need to become more of an offensive threat. My strength is more of my post moves and my defense.

"And I work hard so that just helps me overall. I need to improve on my outside range and my dribbling."
