Three stand out for Shrigley

2012 small forward Matt Shrigley has numerous scholarship offers, but three schools standout. The Carlsbad (Calif.) La Costa Canyon prospect talks about his recruitment.

Between San Diego State, Oregon, Oregon State, St. Mary's, Washington State, Boston College, San Francisco, Arizona State and San Diego, schools haven't been shy about offering scholarships to 6-foot-6, 190-pound 2012 Carlsbad (Calif.) La Costa Canyon small forward Matt Shrigley.

Shrigley has been able to sort through his list of offers and find three schools which stand out in San Diego State, Oregon and Colorado.

"San Diego State is the hometown school and I have a great relationship with the coaches," Shrigley said. "Colorado I visited and liked it a lot; I also like the coaches. Oregon, I have a great relationship with coach (Brian) Fish over there."

Two of those schools have received visits, while Shrigley is also planning a trip to a program not in his top three.

"I've visited San Diego State, Colorado and I'm planning on visiting Boston College pretty soon," he said.

Despite the early favorites list, Shrigley is open and going through the recruiting process with an open mind.

"I'm just kind of taking everything in and talking to the coaches," Shrigley said. "I'll take my time with it, see what I want to do and then make my decision. I'd like to be committed before my senior year of high school. Definitely before then, but right now I'm just looking at everything."

Location won't be a factor for Shrigley, although he will be looking for a few qualities in a program.

"I want to make a big impact early, have a good relationship with the coaches and be at a place where we play to win," he said.
