2012 Intro: Josh Hearlihy

Josh Hearlihy, a promising forward out of Southern California, is drawing interest from a variety of programs...

Josh Hearlihy, 6-6 SF North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake, is an intriguing prospect. A lefty with the ability to face up on the perimeter, Hearlihy is very active at both ends of the court and he plays with very good energy.

I spoke with Hearlihy recently and asked him about the schools that have expressed interest in him.

"I've been hearing mostly from Stanford, Arizona State, Boston College, Notre Dame, Portland and some of the Ivy schools," said Hearlihy. "I'd say Arizona State, Stanford and Boston College have been recruiting me the hardest."

I asked Hearlihy if he has taken any visits and if he any schools in mind for future visits.

"I went to Stanford for their Elite Camp last summer and I will be going again this summer," said Hearlihy. "As far as schools I'd like to visit, I think I'd like to go to some of the schools in the east. Boston College and Notre Dame would be two that I'd like to visit."

Hearlihy talked about the main factors he's considering in picking a school.

"I want a school with a high level of basketball along with high academics," said Hearlihy. "So the best of both worlds. As far as location, at first I thought I wanted to go away to get that going away to college experience. But now I don't really care about leaving home. I'll just go to the school that offers the best fit of basketball and academics."

I asked Hearlihy if he has a time frame in mind to pick a school.

"I'm in no rush to decide," said Hearlihy. "I just want to have a good summer and then decide. I guess if the right school offered, though, then I could go ahead and commit."

Hearlihy said he has a 3.2 GPA.
