Richard Longrus, a 2012 forward out of Northern California, has plenty of high major programs expressing interest in him...
, 6-6 SR PF Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O'Dowd, is one of the top forwards in the west for 2012. While he's not a big-time scorer, Longrus is a very good defender and rebounder, with a terrific feel and approach to the game. He's the kind of player that can help his team win even when he's not scoring much. While it's possible Longrus may defend some small forwards, it's likely that he spends most of his time at the four in colleg.
I spoke with Longrus recently and he gave me an update on his recruitment.
"I'm hearing from San Diego State, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, St. Mary's, Colorado, Texas, Washington, Gonzaga, UNLV, Santa Clara and New Mexico," said Longrus.
I asked Longrus which schools have extended scholarship offers.
"UCLA, St. Mary's, Colorado, Gonzaga, UNLV and Santa Clara," said Longrus.
Longrus said he is in no hurry to reach a decision.
"I'll probably narrow it down sometime after July," said Longrus.
Longrus has visited Cal, Stanford, UCLA, St. Mary's and Santa Clara already.
"I'll probably visit Gonzaga, Washington, maybe Colorado and Texas," said Longrus.
Longrus said he has a 4.2 GPA.
