Christon making visits

Semaj Christon has made a trio of recent visits, and is gaining more and more recruiting attention.

One of the best, yet under the radar, point guards in the 2012 class is Semaj Christon. Originally from Cincinnati, Christon has made huge strides in the last 12 months and is becoming a commodity on the recruiting trail with his size, athleticism, and superior court vision.

"I think I have played pretty good," said Christon of his spring and summer. "When we went out to New York it was a different style of play and I think I played well there."

Christon's Cincinnati Knights team had an impressive run at the Rumble in the Bronx where he was one of the top players at the event.

"It was nice, it was different, but it was cool," Christon said of the event. "Most of the guards out there were small and fast. I had to step up my game a little bit to do what I wanted to do."

When it comes to his recruitment, things have really been heating up with more and more high major schools coming into the picture.

"Recruiting has been going good," Christon explained. "Georgetown, Florida State, Providence, Xavier, Illinois is calling me, Louisville, and a few other schools. I saw Georgetown, Providence, and Xavier recently."

His trip to Georgetown was a good one, and Christon has a good relationship with the staff which has been recruiting him for a while.

"It was good," said Christon of his trip to Georgetown. "I really like the coaching staff and the players a lot. They have been recruiting me for a while."

Providence was also an eye opener for the floor general.

"Providence I liked," explained Christon. "Their coaching staff is like a big family. I didn't get to hang with the players too much, but the coaches really impressed me."

Living in Cincinnati, Christon has a chance to see Xavier quite a bit, and has become real familiar with the surroundings there.

"Xavier has been coming after me a lot," said Christon. "Their players are cool guys and I like their coaches a lot as well. It is close to home which is also nice."

In terms of making a decision, coaches shouldn't have to wait too much longer as Christon is hoping to make his choice fairly soon.

"I think I will make my decision soon," said Christon. "It will probably after July when the coaches can get a chance to see me play AAU."

When he does make his choice, Christon knows what will put one school over the top.

"I am looking for a place where I can come in and play right away and get a good education," he explained. "Also a place that can help me get to the next level."

At the moment Christon is not only deciding his college future, but his prep school as well. Currently he is trying to decide between Oakdale (CT) St. Thomas More and Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster Academy for his pre year.
