Bulldogs Land Combo Guard

The Butler Bulldogs dipped into the 2004 recruiting class and came away with an April commitment from a combo guard.

A.J. Graves, a junior out of White River Valley High in Indiana, wasn't about to mess around. He went to three Butler basketball games this year and the Bulldogs were the first team to offer him a scholarship. This week, Graves committed to Butler.

"I felt really comfortable with the situation," Graves said. "I liked the atmosphere, the college and the players. It felt right."

The Bulldogs put a lot of work into Graves and in turn, asked for the pre-summer commitment from the young man who averaged 22 points a game last year. "They came after me pretty hard."

Xavier, Indiana State, Purdue and Nebraska showed interest though, according to Graves, none had offered prior to the Butler commitment. At Butler, he'll probably be asked to play a combo guard role.

This weekend at the Speice event, he'll play with the Hoosier Stars team.
