A week after landing a commitment from 2012 forward Anthony January, UTEP has received another commitment, this one from 6-foot-6, 190-pound Lafayette (La.) Northside 2012 small forward Dwayne Benjamin.
"I committed to UTEP," Benjamin said. "They saw me in Indianapolis and New Orleans. Their assistant told me Tim Floyd was looking at me and he liked what he saw. Then I got a call from coach Floyd and that he could make me into a pro. I'm all in."
Benjamin says that Floyd was happy to hear the news.
"He was surprised and excited," Benjamin said. "I know they have a lot of big, tall athletic guys and I know that playing for coach Floyd, with his background, he knows what he's doing. He was telling me I can play point guard and shooting guard."
Dwayne Benjamin gives UTEP two commitments in its 2012 recruiting class.
