NMSU grabs a pair

New Mexico State and Marvin Menzies scored a pair of recruits off the same AAU team on Wednesday.

Marvin Menzies targeted Joe Boyd during the evaluation periods and his early work with the 2013 prospect paid off on Wednesday.

Joe Boyd and his Arizona Aces teammate Sam Esposito gave Menzies and his program a verbal commitment.

"From the moment I met Menzies we clicked," Boyd told Scout.com. "It was a good relationship and I really bonded with him."

"I went on an unofficial and I really liked it and I liked the people and the community," Boyd added. "It wasn't too busy. He offered me and I like their style of play and how they use their bigs."

Esposito, a 2013 lead guard, picked New Mexico State for similar reasons.

"I went on an unofficial visit and it was a great community and I liked the campus a lot," Esposito said. "I also like the style and how they play."

Boyd and Esposito are New Mexico State's first two verbal commitments in the 2013 class.
