There may not have been a 2014 prospect on the West Coast that improved their stock more this summer than 5-foot-7, 145-pound Loyola (Calif.) point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright.
The small point guard has very good handles, shooting and passing ability for a young point guard. Coaches will want him to grow but it hasn't prevented four Pac-12 schools from offering him already.
Arizona State, UCLA, USC and Washington have all extended early offers to Jackson-Cartwright and as of now, he says none of those four programs have an advantage over the others.
"It's a jump ball now," Jackson-Cartwright said. "A lot of schools have showed a lot of interest and offered me so it's really up in the air."
Jackson-Cartwright broke down all four schools which have offered.
UCLA: "They're local, I like the coaches; we have a good relationship already. I like their style - I went to a couple of their games last year - and I just like the school."
Arizona State: "I know the whole coaching staff really well, especially the assistant coach Scott Pera, he's like family. I like their style too."
Washington: "They let their point guards go. I'm a point guard who likes to get up and down, and they get up and down."
USC: "They're local and have a good style and good coach. You can't go wrong with that."
As of now, Jackson-Cartwright says he's worried about improving as a player and not focusing on his recruitment.
"Offers can be taken away so I need to keep working hard and trying to get better," he said. "That's the only thing I'm worried about. I don't want to commit too early. I think I'm going to wait until junior year and see what happens."
