Apparently, Villanueva has reached one decision.
"I'm taking a visit to Kansas on Wednesday," Villanueva said. It's been well-documented that Villanueva committed to Illinois but did not sign his letter of intent with the Illini. As it stands, he's got a strong allegiance to Bill Self.
"It was my idea and I had one more visit to take and I decided to go to Kansas," Villanueva said. The forward said he recently contacted the Illini and informed them of his interest. "Coach Self and I have established a relationship."
Villanueva has spoken to new Illini coach Bruce Weber and says that he'll look at Champaign again. "Coach Weber, he's a good guy. We spoke for 15 minutes but it was kind of awkward. We kicked it off pretty well. That's also a possibility, I'm not writing them off."
Though he won't have any official visits remaining, Villanueva isn't opposed to getting into a car and seeing some campuses. In fact, he wants to do so. "UNC is driving distance. So is UConn and I've already seen the UCLA campus. The schools I haven't officially visited, I'll definitely make an unofficial." Villanueva has said that UNC is really interested. He's talked with Roy Williams and thinks they pretty much offered him a grant.
Still, all this talk of colleges could be pointless. There's that little NBA decision out there that has to be made soon. "The deadline is on the 12th so I have to decide pretty soon. There's a pretty good chance I'm going to college. As far as the NBA, it's a tough call."
"They say I got a shot to be a first round pick. I'm considering it, but I don't know what I'm going to do."
