Abrahamson makes Big 10 pick

Kale Abrahamson is off the board and headed to the Big 10. He picked Northwestern over interest from a handful of high majors.

Just a day after his AAU teammate Mike Gesell made his choice for Iowa, Kale Abrahamson opted to make his college decision.

Abrahamson, a 2012 prospect out of West Des Moines (Iowa) Valley, committed to Northwestern on Tuesday.

"It was just one of those things where I felt comfortable," Abrahamson said. "I really liked the players and I met them all last night. The combination of academics and athletic is second to none."

Stanford, Boston College, Nebraska, Iowa, Creighton, Harvard and Wake Forest were also involved, but after an unofficial visit on Monday he felt it was the way to go.

"I went up there once before, but I felt like I needed a longer visit and more time to hang out with their guys," he added about his visit on Monday.

"I'm really excited," Abrahamson said. "You always feel had for all the other schools, but it feels great to have it done and now I can focus on the high school season now."

Abrahamson becomes Northwestern's third commitment in the 2012 class. He joins Sanjay Lumpkin, who committed over the weekend, and center Alex Olah to make up their current class.
