Carter's Recruitment Expanding

Ben Carter, one of the elite post players in the west for 2012, has seen his recruitment expand after a terrific showing in July...

Ben Carter, 6-7 SR PF Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, is one of the more underrated prospects in the class of 2012. A very versatile player, Carter has excellent ball skills for a post, but also the toughness and physicality to play in the paint. He's an excellent passer, with an above average feel for the game, and he can score from multiple spots on the floor.

I spoke with Carter recently and he gave me a list of schools that are involved with him.

"Auburn, Utah, Boston College, New Mexico, UNLV, Oregon and San Diego State have all offered," said Carter.

When asked if any schools stand out for him, Carter replied, "no one stands out right now."

Carter recently took an unofficial visit to local school UNLV.

"I went on an unofficial visit with Rosco Allen," said Carter. "It went really well. I have a great relationship with Coach Rice since I've known him for so long. I'm building good relationships with all the other coaches.

Carter has a tentative official visit lined up with Oregon.

"I'm scheduled to visit Oregon for an official on October 6th," said Carter. "That's not completely set yet. I still have to make sure I have no conflicts with anything at Gorman, but that was the date we discussed."

Carter is hoping to cut his list down soon.

"I'd like to narrow it down sometime in the next two to three weeks," said Carter.

Carter said he's not sure about the timing of his decision.

"I'm not sure yet about when I might decide," said Carter. "I haven't really given too much thought to it yet. It will just be whenever I feel comfortable.
