Zeller Is One To Watch In 2005

Luke Zeller is a name recruiting junkies are going to need to get familiar with and in a hurry. Only a sophomore, Zeller already has been tendered offered from some major programs.

Washington (IN) High sophomore Luke Zeller is one of the better 2005 big kids we've seen all spring. Why?

Well, for starters, he's a very skilled offensive player. He's perfectly capable of stepping out and making perimeter shots, even to 3-point range.

Like most big kids his age, physically he needs to get stronger but that should come in time as he fills out his 6-10 frame. Regardless, he's in there fighting for the tough rebounds and he's very aggressive and that's a great trait to see in a developing big man.

Zeller is so talented that he's already received what we would call five major offers. Butler has put forth a scholarship offer and so have Iowa, Purdue, North Carolina State and Marquette.

Before the end of the open period, Tommy Amaker and Gene Keady made special trips to see him. Assistants from Notre Dame, Missouri and Indiana also stopped by the gym recently.

Looking for another reason to like Zeller? Well, his mother played college basketball on the small college level and height runs in the family. Another relative, Al Eberhard, was drafted in 1974 by the NBA out of Missouri after being an all-conference performer. The kid has basketball genes.
