South Carolina hits the daily double

Darrin Horn scored a pair of recruits on Wednesday. Ian Baker and Carlos Morris both opted for the Gamecocks.

South Carolina hit the daily double.

Ian Baker and Carlos Morris, both of Jacksonville (Fla.) Arlington Country Day, gave Darrin Horn and his staff verbal commitments Wednesday evening.

"I just committed to South Carolina to 10 minutes ago," Baker said. "I'm really excited. It feels like a relief."

"USC has been there from day one," Morris texted "It just felt right."

Baker, a 6-foot, 175-pound guard, said he was down to a pair of schools and ultimately felt like USC was the better fit.

"At the end of the day it was down to South Carolina for Providence and the kid Kris Dunn committed to Providence and I just felt like South Carolina was the place to go," Baker added. "They were recruiting me harder than anyone."

"They have good plans for me," he added. "It just seems like a good fit."

South Carolina assistant coach Mike Boynton was the point man on their recruitments and Baker felt like he could look up to him.

"Mike is cool," Baker said. "I love Mike. He seems like a big brother type of guy. He made me feel like I was at home."

To go with being on the same high school team, Baker and Morris played with the Dwight Howard Warriors together. Now they'll play their college ball together.

"I'm really excited," Baker said about playing with Morris in college. "It's always good to go into a situation with somebody you already played with and someone you have chemistry with."

Baker and Morris are the first two commitments in South Carolina's 2012 recruiting class.
