Derksen Considering Four Schools

Tim Derksen, a senior shooting guard out of Arizona, will be busy traveling in September with official visits lined up on four consecutive weekends...

Tim Derksen, 6-3 SR SG Tucson (Ariz.) Amphitheater, is one of the better two guards in the west for 2012. A lefty with a very good feel for the game, Derksen plays with toughness and he's effective when attacking the basket off the wing.

I spoke with Derksen recently and he told me four schools are involved with his recruitment.

"I'm looking at four schools and I have visits upcoming with each of them," said Derksen. "I'm visiting Northeastern the weekend of September 9th, then San Diego the following weekend. I go to Northern Colorado the weekend after San Diego and my final trip will be to San Francisco the weekend after the Northern Colorado trip."

With four schools in different areas of the country, I asked Derksen how he will compare them and what he's looking for in a school.

"The main thing with me is I want to go somewhere that I know I can play and come in to play early," said Derksen. "I want to see how I fit in with the players at each school. Hopefully I'll get a chance to play with all of them and start to build a relationship with them. I have a relationship with the coaching staffs at each school and now I want to get to know the players and see how I would fit in."

Derksen said he believes he will be ready to choose a school shortly after his trips.

"I want to decide hopefully sometime in October," said Derksen.
