Reid headed to Oregon State

Decatur (Ga.) Columbia small forward Jarmal Reid took an official visit Saturday and did not wait long to make a decision.

6-foot-6, 215-pound Decatur (Ga.) Columbia High School small forward Jarmal Reid took an official to Oregon State on Saturday.

It did not take long for him to end his recruitment.

Reid became the second member of Oregon State's 2012 class, as he has decided to give his verbal to the Beavers.

John Cross, head of the AAU program Southern Kings, says that Reid made the decision due in large part to his confidence in the coaching staff.

"He felt comfortable with Oregon State coach Craig Robinson and felt that he could work with him to improve his game," Cross said.

In addition, Reid will have an opportunity to compete for early playing time.

"He saw a chance to compete early and with teams like UCLA, Arizona, and that kind of level of competition," Cross said.

The two-star forward chose Oregon State over offers from Oklahoma, Marquette, Clemson, and more.
