USC snags big man

USC picked up a unknown prospect on Sunday. Strahinja Gavrilovic, of La Jolla (Calif.) Prep, pledged to the Trojans.

Kevin O'Neill picked up a 2012 power forward on Sunday.

Strahinja Gavrilovic, a native of Serbia, gave USC a pledge. The 6-foot-8 forward cited Nikola Vucevic as one of the many reasons he opted for the Trojans.

"I want to progress in basketball and play at a high level," Gavrilovic said. "I know USC sends a lot of players in the NBA and my goal is to one day play at the next level. Nikola Vucevic is goign from Serbia to USC to the NBA that was a big reason."

O'Neill's NBA background also played a role in Gavrilovic's decision.

"I like the USC coaches and that Kevin O'Neill has coached in the NBA, that USC has had a lot players go to the NBA and I appreciate the opportunity to play at a high level."

Gavrilovic is USC's second verbal commitment of the 2012 recruiting class. He joins Arizona native Larry Lewis to make up their current class.
