Hill picks Illini

Illinois scored a quality commitment in the 2013 class from wing Malcolm Hill.

Locking down the best prospects in the state of Illinois is always a priority for the Fighting Illini coaching staff, and they did just that in the 2013 class with Malcolm Hill. The Belleville (Ill) East High School star pulled the trigger on Monday night for his home state school.

"Yes I committed to Illinois," Hill confirmed.

According to Hill the fact that Illinois was close to home is nice, but it is everything that went into his college decision that just it the right place.

"They were a hometown school so my family could see me play so that was a bonus," Hill. They have a strong alumni so that is good. Me going there I think I fit in well educationally and I like really like their whole coaching staff. I get along with them real well. Their team chemistry looks great and I think I would fit in off the court."

He continued, "I feel that is the best situation for me. I liked all of the schools that recruiting me, but I liked Illinois best."

In the end Hill chose Illinois over Missouri, Kansas State, and Xavier. According to Hill calling those coaches was very tough.

"I called Xavier and Missouri myself because they took the most time recruiting me and I started tearing up because I had a good relationship with them, and to turn them down I felt really bad," Hill explained.

Still at the end day Hill could only select Illinois and he feels the future is bright for the Illini.

"I think I fit in real well," said Hill. "I can't predict the future, but I know I will work my hardest and a student athlete, and I think we can do great things there."

Hill joins Jalen James as commitments for the Illini in the 2013 class.
