Martel Johnson's Early List

Martel Johnson, 6-3 SF Las Vegas (Nev.) Durango, is a very well put together forward prospect. We talked with him about the schools he's hearing from, and also whether he's ever considered taking up football.

We spoke with Martel Johnson, 6-3 SF Las Vegas (Nev.) Durango, at the Pump camp yesterday and he told us Cal State Fullerton, Texas and SMU have all called recently expressing interest. Nebraska and Purdue are a couple of the schools that have sent mail.

We asked Martel if he had any favorite schools growing up and he said, "St. John's and Arkansas. I have family in Arkansas."

Given that he's one of the more well put together kids in this class, we asked if he had ever played any football and he replied, "No, I haven't. Everyone asks me that, but my Mom doesn't want to play. A lot of people tell me that I could get a scholarship for football though."

Martel told us that he'll be playing with the Las Vegas Rebels at the Big Time.

He said his GPA is currently 2.7 and he's waiting on his test results.
