One visit down for Harrell

2012 Los Angeles small forward Julian Harrell has one of the best all-around games at his position out west. The Loyola High School standout gives the latest in his recruitment.

The official visit process is officially underway for 6-foot-5, 175-pound Los Angeles Loyola 2012 small forward Julian Harrell, who started things off with a trip to an Ivy League school.

"I took an official visit to Penn last weekend," Harrell said. "I liked it a lot. I really like coach (Jerome) Allen. Miles Cartwright, who is like a big brother to me, is up there and he showed me around. He was my host so that was pretty cool. I really liked it out there."

Harrell said that he's in the process of setting up an official visit to Duquesne, with Portland and St. Mary's - who recently offered - also in the mix for trips.

Another school in the running for an official visit is Stanford.

"I'm supposed to talk to them later this week and hopefully set up a visit with them," Harrell said. "They said they were going to try to start working on the application process and they were going to update me on how everything is going."

Harrell says he's wide open and in no rush to make a decision.

"I'm just going through the process," Harrell said. "I want to sign early. That would be the best situation, having it over with for my senior year and just playing and not worried about having my recruitment lingering over me for an entire season.

"If I can't make a decision by November, I'll wait for the April signing period."
