2013 Intro: Elliot Pitts

Elliot Pitts, a junior shooting guard from Concord (Calif.), has several offers from West Coast programs...

Elliot Pitts, 6-4 JR SG Concord (Calif.) De La Salle, is one of the more promising wings in the west for 2013. A good shooter, and deceptive athlete, Pitts has a very nice feel for the game and good court awareness.

I spoke with Pitts recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been in contact with him.

"Cal, Arizona State, Santa Clara, USF, Cal Poly, Michigan, UCLA, Harvard, Stanford, UCSB, VCU and Washington State," said Pitts.

Pitts said five schools have extended scholarship offers to date.

"Cal, ASU, Santa Clara, USF and Cal Poly have offered," said Pitts.

Pitts talked a little about the issues that will be important to him when he chooses a school.

"Definitely the academics are important," said Pitts. "If I don't end up playing ball beyond college I want to have a good education. Obviously the athletic program is important, but I'm really going to focus on the academics as well."

Pitts has already been to a number of schools on unofficial visits.

"I've been to Cal, Santa Clara, USF, UCLA and Stanford," said Pitts. "I'm going to ASU this weekend."

I asked Pitts if he has a time frame for choosing a school.

"I talked with my parents about it and I want to decide by the beginning of my senior year," said Pitts. "So probably sometime after the summer following my junior year."

Pitts said he currently has a 3.1 GPA.
