Sina opens up recruitment

Jaren Sina opted to open up his recruitment and decommit from Anthony Grant's program at Alabama.

Jaren Sina surprised the recruiting world when he offered up an early pledge in January to Alabama.

On Tuesday, news trickled out that Sina, a 6-foot guard out of Gladstone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard, had opted to open up his recruitment.

"I have decommitted from Alabama," Sina told Scout.com.

"I just wanted to look at some other options and make sure that I'm making the best choice," he added. "I'm still going to consider Alabama."

Sina, who is ranked No. 58 in the 2013 class, put together an impressive summer and was one of the underclassman standouts at the LeBron James Skills Academy in July.

Sina said he plans to start looking and talking to schools after the decommitment news settles down.

"In terms of recruiting, already the phone has been crazy," he said. "I haven't even checked in with who has called. I'm just letting everything cool down for the next couple of days."
