Alberto has San Diego State offer

2013 point guard Alessandro Alberto has picked up his first scholarship offer. He talks to Scout.com about his game and recruitment.

It didn't take 6-foot-4, 185-pound Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft 2013 point guard Alessandro Alberto long before picking up his first scholarship offer.

San Diego State recently became the first school to offer the junior.

"I was so happy," Alberto said of the offer. "The first thing I did was call my mom. I think about it every day."

He is still learning about the San Diego State program but Alberto is impressed with the Aztecs' recent success.

"I know they blew up last season and went to the tournament and did real well," Alberto said. "I know the school is close to where my father lives so that's good."

Another school that Alberto is hoping to hear from is Florida.

"I lived in Florida for 15 years and the University of Florida is my favorite school, so hopefully they recruit me," he said.

Alberto describes himself as an unselfish point guard who is trying to make his teammates better.

"I'm a pass-first point guard that scores when I need to score, but I'm looking to get my teammates involved," he said. "I'm working on my defense; I'm trying to move my feet better so I can defend smaller guards."

As of now, Alberto is in no rush to make a decision and plans on going through the process.

"I'm looking forward to developing my game and getting more attention," he said.
