Upshaw down to four

2012 Fresno center Robert Upshaw cut five schools from his list and is now down to four. He gives Scout.com the latest on his recruitment.

6-foot-11, 240-pound Fresno (Calif.) San Joaquin Memorial 2012 center Robert Upshaw has been able to trim his school list from nine to four.

Fresno State, Georgetown, Kansas State and Louisville make up the final four, as Upshaw has cut Arizona, USC, UNLV, Maryland and Oklahoma State from his list.

"I just sat down and went through everything," Upshaw said. "I talked with my family and felt like those were the four that best fit me."

A big reason for those four schools making the cut was the relationships he has with each of the coaching staffs still involved.

"I have a really good relationship with coach (Frank) Martin, coach (Rick) Pitino and Wyking Jones, I've gotten to know coach (John) Thompson and also coach (Rodney) Terry," Upshaw said.

Upshaw has heard a lot about each of the four programs left on his list, and now he'll set up visits to all of them.

"Each school is in the same boat," he said. "I need to make these official visits so I can actually see what each school offers. That's the biggest thing right now, me getting on campus and seeing what's real and what's not."

As of now, Upshaw says he doesn't have any visits set.

"My mom is handling the process right now but in the next couple of days I think I'll know," he said.
