Appalachian St. Lands Trio

The Appalachian State men's basketball team signed three prospects this spring. They went the junior college route for the trio.

Fall signee David Hardy had career-ending shoulder surgery and needed to be replaced. Houston Fancher's staff went out and signed three prospects during the spring period.

Derek Thomas, a 6-4, 230 pounder from Okaloosa-Walton junior college signed with the Mountaineers. Thomas will have three seasons of eligibility in Boone.

Appalachian State ventured to Idaho for its second signee. Clint Deas, a native of North Carolina and Garner High, signed with Fancher. Deas played the power forward slot for the College of Southern Idaho last year. He's 6-8 and 235.

The same high school that produced Georgia signee Marcus Sikes has yielded App's third signee. Petersburg, Va., athlete Herbert Jones signed with the Mountaineers after two seasons at Allegany Junior College in Cumberland, Md.
