Williams landing numerous offers

Devin Williams has added many scholarship offers since an impressive run during the July evaluation period.

One of the best rebounders in the 2013 class is Cincinnati (OH) Withrow High School power forward Devin Williams. The 6-foot-7 and 225 pound power forward has had numerous high-major coaches rolling through his open gyms, and now is planning several visits in the next few months.

Running with the Ohio Basketball Club this summer, Williams proved himself against his peers. A strong and physical player on the block, Williams feels that he had a productive summer.

"Things went well," said Williams of the summer. "I am blessed to have a lot of scholarships on the table. I feel I played good. I feel I played really well to be 100 percent honest about the summer."

To this point a whole host of coaches have been through Withrow to watch Williams in an open gym setting.

"I had Tennessee, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin, and West Virginia all in the gym at once," Williams explained. "Bob Huggins just came down to watch me. Also schools like Xavier, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Illinois, Indiana, and Georgetown have all been keeping in touch with me."

Like many prospects, Williams will be taking in some Midnight Madness festivities this weekend when he trips to Champaign, Illinois to check out the Illini.

"On October 15 I am going to Illinois," said Williams. "Also I should be going to West Virginia and Xavier soon. I would also like to visit Wisconsin and some of the other schools in the Midwest area."

When it comes to the Illinois visit, Williams is just expecting a good time and to get to see the school more in depth than he has in the past.

"It is going to be my first real experience at Illinois," said Williams. "I was out there in my ninth grade year just kind of tagging along, and they didn't really know who I was. Illinois was my first offer which was big, and I am excited to visit."

Currently Williams isn't in any hurry to make a decision. He is focused on his high school team, and is just trying to get to know all of the coaches recruiting him. When the time does come for him to focus on a school, Williams knows what he will be paying attention to.

"I am looking for a school that is going to develop me," Williams explained. "I am trying to get to the next level, so I am looking for a school that will develop me as a player and one with good academics."

Williams is the No. 97 ranked player in the nation, and the No. 24 power forward.
