Four Remain In Augusta

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. – Three of the four lower-seeded teams defeated pool winners to advance to the semifinals of the Peach Jam. The stunner of the afternoon was a 19-point loss by the Charlotte Royals against the Illinois Warriors.

Charlotte Gets Blitzed

The Charlotte Royals won the Boo Williams Invitational, but they won't capture the Peach Jam. The Royals got blitzed by the Illinois Warriors, 82-63. Andre Iguodala led the way with 16 points and 7 assists to give the Warriors an upset win. Charlotte's Rashad McCants hit for 21, including 5 3-pointers but it wasn't nearly enough as the Royals simply ran out of gas and fell behind by too much too early.

Hopkins Paces Team Texas

Bracey Wright was held to 8 points but Josh Washington scored 19 and Bryan Hopkins hit for 25 to lead Team Texas past Howard Pulley 68-62. Kris Humphries led Pulley with 14 points and 9 boards.

BABC Survives; Knocks Out Defending Champs

Marshall Strickland continued his torrid scoring pace as he tallied 23 in pushing BABC past the Wisconsin Playground Warriors, 54-49. Though Strickland was stellar and Torin Francis had a nice game (10 pts., 14 rebs.), it was center Keith Butler who single-handedly changed the style of the game. Butler rejected 7 shots and was a dominant presence in the paint. This was a great game as the lead swayed back and forth. Boo Wade scored 14 to lead the Warriors, and was impressive with some of his athletic finishes.

Athletes First Advances

Lester Abram and The Family were on a roll. But, so was Athletes First. Shelden Williams scored 18 points and hauled in 11 boards in leading Athletes First to the 61-53 win. Abram scored 18 but it wasn't nearly enough for The Family which was playing as an underdog as a much more physical AAU team.
