Wyoming Deals Out 2 Schollies

Steve McClain likes a good junior college player. So does his assistant Joe Dooley. This week, the Cowboys signed a pair the coach hopes can help out next season.

The Cowboys acquired the signature of small forward Tim Henry and guard Dion Sherrell.

"We these two signings, we bring to the program two big wings who can give us scoring, ball handing and defense," Wyoming coach Steve McClain said.

Henry averaged 19 points and 4 rebounds last season at Salt Lake Junior College. He ranked 22nd in the nation in scoring and was an NJCAA honorable mention all-american. Henry scored 30 or more points seven times last season. Originally from Orem, Utah, Henry was named Mr. Basketball as a senior.

Sherrell was a star for Schoolcraft JC. However, just 10 games into his sophomore season where he began the year averaging 20 a night; Sherrell broke his little toe and missed considerable action. He's originally from Detroit and was a 3rd team all-state selection from Henry Ford H.S.

The Cowboys have a grant remaining but McClain said in the school's release that he thought the team would use the grant but probably not until later in the summer.
