Garland Era Tips In Cleveland

The Mike Garland Era is off and running at Cleveland State. The new coach, formerly an assistant under the tutelage of Tom Izzo, has inked a pair

Mike Garland's Cleveland State Vikings own the signatures of two players from the spring signing period.

Victor Morris, a point guard from Inkster in Michigan, averaged 21 points and 7 assists a game last year. "Victor Morris is a bright young man with a tremendous basketball IQ and is capable of raising the play of his teammates," Garland said.

For Garland's second recruit, he traversed the border into Canada to land a power forward. Patrick Tatham is a 6-7, 220 pounder from Brampton, Ontario. Tatham originally signed with St. Bonaventure, but was released from his letter after the coaching change in Olean. He's a leading candidate to earn Mr. Basketball honors in Canada after posting averages of 21 points and 9 rebounds.

Garland had high praise for Tatham. "In many ways, Patrick reminds me of [former Kent State player] Antonio Gates."
